Metter Busted Mugshots and Arrests
Metter is the seat of Candler County. The 2020 census put 4,004 people in town. Enforcement falls to three agencies: the City of Metter Police Department, the Candler County Sheriff's Office, and state troopers with the Georgia State Patrol. A news story may name Metter while the booking record actually lives in a county jail system or another agency's files.
The official Metter Police page places the department at 805 E. Lillian Street, Metter, Georgia 30439. City contact material lists 912-685-5437, with a fax line at 912-685-2664. Call 911 for emergencies. Dispatch runs through 912-685-2291, a number CCSO also gives for the jail. That shared line points to close coordination between agencies. Still, it does not mean every Metter arrest lands in Candler County Jail.
A case follows a set order. First comes the arrest or citation, then the agency incident report. County-jail booking follows when it applies, then custody or release, then court. The early paperwork is thin. Only the court disposition shows the outcome, whether a charge was dropped, changed, settled by plea, or tried.
Where Metter Busted Mugshots Appear
Neither Metter Police nor the county sheriff publishes a public arrest log, booking feed, inmate roster, or mugshot page. That is just how the sources are set up. It does not mean arrests never happen in Metter.
| Channel | Photo or record | How Metter readers should use it |
|---|---|---|
| Metter Police | No official online blotter or photo display located | Request the department's incident report and confirm the arresting agency. |
| Candler County Jail | No web roster or online photo | Call 912-685-2291 for current county custody; do not infer release from a failed search. |
| CCSO records form | Existing booking record or photo may be requested | Use the exact name, approximate date, and agency. |
| The Georgia Virtue | Some current source-packet images | Use the article for date and agency clues, then verify with official records. |
| SoutheastGeorgiaToday | Sampled Candler blotter pages are text-only | Use the recurring regional chronology, not as proof of current custody. |
| Georgia Gazette | Unofficial county archive may include images | Secondary and incomplete; not a Metter Police roster. |
| Mugshots.com | Historical Candler thumbnails | Visible years end at 2016; no dependable current Metter coverage. |
Countywide news outlets name Metter whenever the source packet points to the city agency. Their coverage is spotty, though. An article photo may come from an agency rather than the jail. And stories can stay up long after a person walks free.
Busted in Metter: Find the Booking
Order matters here. Hunting for a Metter booking? Go city by city, or you'll confuse an incident report with a jail record. Candler County runs no online roster for this. So the phone and written-request route carries the day.
- Write down the person's full name, approximate date, location, and any agency or report number shown in the source.
- Ask whether Metter Police, CCSO, Georgia State Patrol, or another agency made the arrest. A Metter location does not identify the custodian by itself.
- Call Candler County Jail at 912-685-2291 if current county custody matters. A person may have been released, transferred, or booked under another spelling.
- Request the Metter Police incident report from MPD and the county-jail booking sheet or photograph from CCSO when those are the records sought.
- Search Candler Superior and State Court through Georgia Courts E-Access for the case, plea, and disposition.
The countywide Candler booking and records path sorts out the six custody channels: just-booked, in-custody, released, state prison, federal, and ICE. That map matters. A Metter news item can pin down a rough date, sure. But news alone can't answer all six custody questions for you.
Metter Police Records
Start with Metter Police when you want an MPD incident or arrest report. The city's own material lists the department address and phone, though it posts no separate fee schedule or turnaround promise. Georgia's general Open Records Act guidance sets the baseline until a custodian gives a lawful estimate or names an exemption.
When you ask for an existing report, include the name, date, location, agency, and report number. Want a county-jail booking sheet or the photo that goes with it? Send that piece to CCSO's records form instead. No custodian has to build you a fresh list of every Metter arrest. Any photo request falls under Georgia's booking-photo statute.
Fees follow the state's general rules. The first 15 minutes of search, retrieval, and redaction cost nothing. Paper copies stay capped at ten cents a page unless another law sets a different figure. Other media may carry actual-cost charges. Any estimate above $25 must be spelled out, and above $500 the agency can require prepayment. MPD posts no local booking-photo fee schedule of its own, so nail down the amount with the custodian first.
For the photo itself, point to the existing image and its booking event. Don't ask for a new compilation. Georgia may require a truthful compliance statement under O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19. If MPD doesn't hold the jail image, its reply should still help you tell the incident report apart from the CCSO booking record.

The official MPD page captured for this section confirms the department's city role and the lack of a linked public arrest log. It does not show a mugshot gallery.
Keep the MPD incident report and CCSO jail record separate. One describes the reported event; the other documents county custody when the person was booked there.
Metter Busted Crime News
The Georgia Virtue is the strongest Candler source for Metter booking coverage with images. When the sheriff packet tags an arrest as MPD, it names Metter Police directly. Sometimes it shows report pages too. SoutheastGeorgiaToday posts a text blotter roughly once a week. For bigger Metter cases, WTOC, WJCL, and the Statesboro Herald step in. None adds up to a full city arrest ledger. Treat each outlet as one piece of the picture.
Other archives have real limits. The Georgia Gazette keeps an unofficial Candler County collection, yet a county page there never guarantees every Metter arrest made the cut. Mugshots.com's Candler archive stops at 2016. A single local post might skip a Pulaski booking, spotlight just one incident, or run a photo that never came from the jail.
When a news story matches your search, pull its date and agency. Use those details to narrow a records request. Then check with the county jail on current custody and the court on the outcome. News gives context; the official files hold the answers.
After a Metter Booking
Georgia sets clock rules for first appearances. After a warrantless arrest, the hearing must happen within 48 hours. With a warrant, the limit is 72 hours unless bond came first. That hearing covers early rights and release, not the merits. Arraignment comes next, where the charge and plea formally enter the court process. A booking charge can shift along the way.
For the case file itself, use the Candler Clerk and Georgia Courts E-Access. Superior Court handles most felony matters. State Court takes county misdemeanors and traffic cases within its jurisdiction. Magistrate covers warrants and first appearances. Juvenile Court records sit under separate controls. Once a state sentence kicks in, the record moves to GDC rather than the county jail. Federal and ICE custody each run through their own official locators.
Custody status and public records do not always match. A released Metter arrestee still has a booking record on file. Someone sitting in county custody may show nothing online, because CCSO posts no roster. A later GDC profile reflects a state sentence only. Track four facts separately: the arrest date, the booking date, the release status, and the court outcome.
